Mammillaria spinosissima rubra Rosa 'Charles Darwin' such as roses and shrubsMammillaria spinosissima 'Rubra' is distinct for its dense covering of vibrant, coppery red spines that wrap around the cylindrical body, giving it a glowing appearance when backlit. It is affectionately referred to as the "Red Headed Irishman" due to this intense colouration, which contrasts strikingly with the ring of bright purple pink flowers it produces. It typically grows upright, often forming attractive clumps at the base as it matures.
